Description: On May 31st, 1958 the first Pizza Hut restaurant opened in Wichita, Kansas, started by two college-aged brothers who borrowed $600 from their mother. In 2003, the franchise launched their Wing Street restaurants offering their ever popular chicken wings and only four years later, in 2007, the franchise celebrated the opening of their 1,000th Wing Street restaurant as well as launching online ordering facilities to their 6,500 locations via their website. Pizza Hut has grown into the largest pizza franchise in the world, ranking at 25 in our 2005 Top 500. Since the first franchise in 1959, 12,700 franchises have been opened worldwide. In 2001, the franchise became the only ever to deliver pizza to outer space with a pizza delivery to the International Space Station!
