Century 21 was founded in 1971 by real estate agents Art Bartlett and Marsh Fisher in Orange County, California, and began franchising a year later. Bartlett aimed to build the company nationally by marketing the brand on TV and radio. He believed franchising was the best option for small entrepreneurs, and convinced thousands of small, independent real estate companies to become Century 21 franchises.

It now has independently owned and operated franchised offices in 76 countries worldwide, employing over 101,000 sales professionals. The brand is the most recognized real estate company, according to a recent J.D. Power study.

Franchise System

The Century 21 system provides a team of people that specialise in each aspect of the business. Each franchisee is assigned a Brand Ambassador who will implement Century 21 systems, tools and learning programmes to help franchisees achieve their business goals. Franchisees benefit from the flexibility of being independently owned and operated, along with the support and brand presence of an iconic real estate brand. Benefits include global exposure, comprehensive training, in-market support, marketing, and the buying power of a global partner. Ideal franchisees are individuals that are interested in setting a new standard of service, quality and commitment.

Century 21 University is a comprehensive selection of programmes designed to develop skills, knowledge and habits. They offer free learning options focussed on business planning, including group and individual coaching, broker and sales management courses and niche market commercial courses and webinars.

Corporate Social Responsibility

In 1979, Century 21 began a philanthropic partnership with the Easter Seals. In 2015 Century 21 franchisees and affiliates raised $2.0 million for Easter Seals, bringing the total contribution to over €114 million since the partnership began. In 2009, Century 21 Canada introduced the Kids to Camp programme, which sent children to summer camps run by Easter Seals across the country.

In Australia, Century 21 support several charities including Pink Ribbon|Cancer Council, Variety, The Children’s Charity and Telethon. Money is raised for these charities by hosting events, running social media campaigns and distributing press releases on the campaigns.
