Re/max was founded in 1973 by Dave and Gail Liniger, two real estate agents from Denver, Colorado. They wanted to develop a new real estate concept where agents could enjoy the freedom of running their own business and allow them to keep a maximum proportion of their commission. In 1994, Re/max was brought to Europe by Walter J. Schneider and Frank J. Polzler. It now operates in 35 countries across Europe, with more than 17,000 agents working in 1,700 offices.

Worldwide, the Re/max network consists of more than 100,000 agents in over 100 countries, and is the fastest growing real estate franchise in the world.
